There are some logistical essentials which need to be considered:
There are six of us so we need a playing area to accommodate us. In rough terms this should be an area covering at least 20 square metres - If the area is bigger all the better as our singers like to dance about / perform and get everyone on the dancefloor. But we also, if needs must, can squeeze into ridiculously small areas but we have a lot of equipment including a light show.
Generally, our standard arrive time is around 5.00pm but this is negotiable usually without charge. We need an an hour to set up, depending on access, and a few minutes to sound check. We do all our own roadying.
Once we set up we will need a changing area where we can relax and prepare for the performance which is often a few hours later - following Dining / Speeches. Most venues provide this willingly but occassionally we've found ourselves getting changed in fields outside marquees etc. We are not the temperamental types but this is pushing our goodwill!
If we are offered refreshments and tea /coffee, it is gratefully
received. Since we will be performing until gone midnight and we have to pack down and travel home often getting in at dawn, I think it is only reasonable that it is realised that we need to eat. If this is not provided we will search out whatever is available locally and this is sometimes difficult if the venue is in a remote area. Usually, hotels / venues will not provide refreshments unless they are specificly instructed to by the booker / event organiser.
Despite the best laid plans - we sometimes turn up and matters are not all that were agreed - dont be particularly concerned about this we can make the necessary adjustments Our main concern is that all the guests have a great night and we're well used to the unexpected.
If you have booked a DJ (see our DJ Service under The Band)make sure that they dont take up all the room. We will work with whoever it is to make sure that your entertainment runs smoothly.
Of minor importance, but please note, that we dont normally let guest 'singers' up - especially at the end of a drunken night.
Our dress sense is variable - our standard outfits are Black Suits and Emma wears an evening dress. We have been known to wear themed outfits for 70s / 80s nights - a Soul Review , Bond Nights etc.please discuss this at the booking stage - I can provide images etc. but I'm not publishing them on this site!
We will also endeavour to learn and play special requests
and 1st Dances for weddings - please enquire at the booking stage. Thats it - we wish you all the best for your event - keep it live!
